My proposal is to interview three international students who attend Emory University and see how they’ve use media to become better acquainted with Emory. As a transfer student, I want to compare and contrast the ways transfer students and international students become part of the Emory community. I am curious to find out about the different clubs they’re involved in on campus and to see what forms of media they use to communicate with other club-members. I would also like to see how they communicate with their family back home. Some questions I would like to ask include: “What made you decide to attend a university in the U.S.?” and “Did media play a large role in informing you about schools in the U.S.?” I would like to do some research on clubs at Emory aimed towards international students and see how they’ve helped international students meet new people here. I think international students at Emory are an integral part of what makes Emory so unique and diverse. All of them come from very different backgrounds and they all have incredibly interesting stories to share. I am very interested in hearing some of their stories and obtaining a deeper understanding of what it’s like to be an international student at Emory.
